PageMaker hyphenates words to reduce the
spacing between them in a justified text. Hyphenation is controlled
with the hyphenation dialog box.
The Manual only option hyphenates only the
words that you have marked to hyphenate by inserting a discretionary
hyphen in the word where it would normally break.
Manual plus dictionary option hyphenates
the words to which you have added discretionary hyphens, as
well as words hyphenated in the PageMaker dictionary.
In addition to using the dictionary, Manual
plus algorithm option, uses a mathematical algorithm and your
manually inserted hyphens to break words.
